Denison Daily Cresset Tuesday, August 28, 1877 pg. 4 FIRE ON BOIS d'ARC BRIDGE [From the Bonham News Extra] The long railroad bridge over Bois d'Arc Creek, one and a-half miles east of this place, took fire near the middle yesterday afternoone from a spark of the engine. The flames were discovered shortly afterward by a gang of section men, but having to carry water by hand, they made slow progress extinguishing the fire. It was 2 o'clock this morning before the fire was finally subdued. In the meantime it had destroyed 150 feet of the bridge. As we write, twenty or thirty men are at work repairing the break. The boss in charge of the gang informs us that no train will be delayed more than three hours. The bridge at Powder Creek and Choctaw also took fire yesterday, but were extinguished without material damage.
