Templemeyer Lake West Walker Woods Templemeyer and Svane's property was located in the woods. Mr. Templemeyer had several small tropical fish ponds and shop on his property. One tropical fish pond remains on the land, in the Mauk Circle housing off West Walker St. During the summer the sport was frog-gigging during the summer months. In the West End area, a popular place was Collard's or Collier's Pond, a large area bordered by Juanita Dr. on the east, Dove Lane on the north, Ray Dr. to the west and Walker St. to the south. At one time it was an old dairy farm with acres and acres of woods and ponds for fishing and swimming - all the stuff kids liked. This land was owned by the Svane family. Not much is left of the area except woods but in early Denison history there were many stories about the place. There was at one time several barns on the land that housed many old treasures from the turn-of-the-century. One barn had hundreds of old milk bottles like the ones that used to be delivered door-to-door. Also, deep in the woods are the foundation, walls and sidewalks with cement porch steps that went to the house that was one there but now has been gone for ages. Roger & E.C.
