9 May 1887 RAILROAD DOTS Notwithstanding the fact that a Bonham correspondent has designated all statement to Sherman securing the divisional station as idle rumors citizens of Sherman are in possession of facts which justify them in believing that the round-house, shops, etc, will be brought back as soon as the water supply is fully demonstrated. Prof. J. T. Clark, who is in Sherman in the interest of the railroads who are in the immigration pool, this morning stated to a News reporter that he was meeting with unparalleled success in Sherman and that everybody here seemed bent on working for Sherman. Full data as to the trade and other commercial resources of Sherman is being gathered up and placed in the hands of the Texas and Pacific Railway, who will use it in their circulars and other advertisements. A sub-organization is also at work in Bells, a junction east of Sherman, in Grayson County. No other local bureaus will be organized. The track of the Sherman and Mount Pleasant Railway reached Wolfe City Thursday morning, and has been progressing toward Sherman since at the rate of a mile and a quarter per day. Capt. J. H. Britton stated to The News reporter this morning that it would only require forty working days and perhaps less, for the road to be constructed into Sherman and to be in operation here. The work of grading the yards is going on now at a satisfactory rate of speed. A number of the Sherman delegation to Texarkana was to-day interviewed by a News reporter, and in answer to a question relative to Sherman's standing in the estimation of the St. Louis, Arkansas and Texas stated that Sherman had nothing to fear; that the company fully appreciated Sherman's actions and her enterprise, and that the Sherman committee had the assurance that the object of their visit would be gratified.
