ANOTHER KATY MAN A.E. CRAWFORD ON RETIRED LIST
A.E. Crawford, 314 East Hull, Katy brakeman and conductor for 41 years, will retire within the next few days because of failing health, he has announced.
Mr. Crawford, whose last regular run was in through-freight on the North Texas District, has been ill at his home for some times. His retirement probably will become effective about November 25, his 65th birthday.
Born in Hartville, Missouri, November 25, 1879, Mr. Crawford moved as a boy to Independence, Kansas, and received his education there. As a young man, he came to Denison where in 1902 he joined the staff of the Halton Undertaking Parlor, which was owned by the late W.H. Halton and Mr. Crawford's sister, Mrs. J.M. Romer.
Mr. Crawford entered Katy service in 1903 as a brakeman and was promoted to conductor in 1916. He was married in 1901 to Miss Maude Damron, a native of Denison. The couple have one son, Lloyd, who now lives in Grand Prairie.
Mr. Crawford is a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen and Trinity Methodist church.
