Missouri ~ Kansas ~ Texas Railroad Katy Employe Elmo Allen removed the train board at the Denison station after the last Texas Special pulled out on July 1, 1965. Denison Herald photograph posted on Facebook by John Sniffen Claude Easterly, Denison Herald editor, commented: "When H.O. Pennel showed up for work Wednesday morning, he figured the last train and come and gone, and he had Elmo Allen take the bulletin board down off the front of the building. However, minutes later he learned that the last train was running more than two hours late, and he hastily had Allen put it back up. When Allen got around to taking it down for the last time, it was done to the flash of bulbs as the press recorded the historic event."
