FOR SHERIFF
Tom Tennison has been in Grayson County for 32 years.  He has made his own living since he was 8 years old. He lived on a farm until after he was a man grown.  His official life began when he was appointed Constable of the Sherman Precinct, he was elected to succeed himself, serving a little over 3 years in that capacity.  He then went into the livery business as a one-third interest partner with J.W. Brammer in Sherman, serving there about 20 months.  He accepted an appointment under Sam Sparks, state treasurer, as a clerk in  his office at Austin, Texas, serving there 30 months; he accepted a place in the State Department of Agriculture, serving there only 6 months; he accepted the place as Chief Deputy Sheriff which was tendered him by Lee Simmons, Sheriff of Grayson County, which place he has held until he started his campaign for the office he has served 3 and a half years as the head deputy.
Tom first settled in Texas about 10 miles west of Whitewright.  The first bale of cotton Tom ever raised, he sold it in Whitewright, Texas, at which time he was a very small lad. Tom did not know at the time he would ever ask the people of Whitewright and Grayson County to vote for him for one of the biggest offices in the county, though now that he thinks himself qualified to fill the place he kindly asks the people to elect him, and his promise in return is the best service his ability will permit.
