April 6, 1967 DOWN MEMORY LANE 45 YEARS AGO, March 30, 1922 Varney Williams died at his home west of town T uesday. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Myrick March 28. Sue McConnell, Lucille LaRoe, Verma Mangrum, Alyne Haile, Maurine May, Haskell Thomson, John McMurry, Jr., Sam Durham, Leon Spindle, Hurschel Atkinson, Lucille Myrick and Fannie Phillips were on the 7th grade honor roll. A contract for construction of a modern school house at Enter has been let and construction will be started soon. 40 YEARS AGO (From The Sun, March 31, 1927) David Booher, 91, of the Orangeville community died Saturday night. B.F. Blanton, south of town, lost 16 horses, 6 hogs, 700 bushels of corn, 30 tons of hay, harnes and a few implements when his barn burned Saturday morning. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Otto Russell on Saturday. 35 YEARS AGO (From The Sun, March 31, 1932) S.H. Jared sustained a fractured leg Tuesday in an accident at Cole & Davis Company store. Mrs. Mary Cambron, 75, died Wednesday at the home of her son, L.C. Cambron. A.P. Neff, 79, died at his home here Thursday. 30 YEARS AGO (From The Sun, April 1, 1937) The temperature dropped to 28 degrees in Whitewright on Sunday. W.W. Walker, 69, died at his home south of town Wednesday. Boy Scout troop was organized here last week with B.W. Newman as scout master and Newton Manning and Mack Pierson as assistants. Ruby Aline Simpson, 6 years old, of the Pilot Grove community died last week from the effects of a rabid dog bite on February 18. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Grady Hansard on Wednesday. Thomas Sears was injured in an automobile accident last Saturday. Robert F. Broyles, 66, died last Saturday.
