Thursday, August 31, 1961 pg. 2 DOWN MEMORY LANE 35 Years Ago (From The Sun, August 26, 1926) Dillard Carr brought 2 stalks of cotton from his patch in east Whitewright to The Sun office this morning. They were 7-1/2 feet tall. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Ashley have moved here from Dallas - Pilot Grove News T.D. Reynolds was stricken with paralysis at his home here Wednesday evening. 30 Years Ago (From The Sun, August 27, 1931) Jacquelyn, 6-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nossaman, was seriously bured last Friday when she pulled a pot of boiling coffee over in her lap. Ouija Craig of Whitewright lost her life in an accident Monday evening at White Rock Lake, Dallas. B.W. Newman, Percy Darwin, Roy Blanton and Cloy Horton attended the annual convention of the American Legion a t El Paso this week. Bill Riddle and Miss Nannie Ola Lambden were married Saturday. R.D. Maddux, 79, died Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C.D. Hunter, east of town. 20 Years ago (From The Sun, August 28, 1941) Pilot Officer Joe Thomas May and Sergeant Pilot Merriwell Vineyard of the Royal Canadian Air Force are visiting relatives here. A.L. Pennell died at his home in Tom Bean Tuesday. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mullican of route 2 on August 23. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. G.O. Neal of the Kentuckytown community on August 27. Mrs. Lee C. Hampton was complimented with a birthday dinner Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sarah Kilgroe.
