Miles Chumbley, 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Chumbley, was seriously burned when gasoline ignited while he was working on an automobile near the Kentuckytown store.
Lester Haile has made several additions and improvements to the residence he recently purchased from W.B. Hestand.
Mrs. R.A. Gillett honored her little daughter, Sarah Belle, with a birthday party on July 28.
Zelma McFatridge, Altha Mae Vestal, Hattie Johnson, Miss Adah Truett, Mrs. H.L. Durham, Eunice Cook, Mrs. G.M. McNeilly, Grace Vestal and Rev. G.M. McNeilly were on the B.Y.P.U. program

John Sadler, 80, of Tom Bean died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. N.H. Grammer, last Thursday.
Dr. Frank Layman, dentist, has announced he will begin the practice of his profession in Whitewright at an early date.
The Southern Ice & Utilities Co. will open their new up-town ice and merchandising station here Saturday.
Miss Mary Rena Penn of Whitewright has been appointed to the faculty of Carnegie Institute of Technology as instructor in the department of costume economics.  She will be a member of the staff of Margaret Morrison Carnegie College.
Joe Riddle has opened a cafe here.
Lula Lee Vestal, Ruth  Gosnell, Pearl England, J.C. Hannah, Emma Claire Vestal, Dorothy Juan Gillett, Pauline Coley and Dwight Coley were on the Junior B.Y.P.U. program.

Mrs. Marcus A. Ayres, 88, died at her home in the Canaan community Wednesday.
Two concrete tennis courts are scheduled to be built soon at the high school.
An Odd Fellows Lodge has been organized here with the following officers:
W.H. Horton, N.G.
W.C. Brown, V.G.
Jesse Wallace, secretary
W.W. Compton, treasurer
W.M. Hickson, F.M. Echols and T.D. Booher, trustees.
Up to June 30 Texas cotton and wheat farmers have been paid $54,933,679 in rental and benefit payments.

Black topping of the Whitewright-Ector road by way of Ely is to begin at once, according to Judge O.L. Couch of Bonham.
The members of the Preston Everheart post of the American Legion and their families held a picnic Tuesday night at the City Park.
The Whitewright Cooperative Gin Association has purchased the New Gin plant, it was annonced this morning by L.E. Alexander, who has been named manager of the plant.
Miss Lucille Bowen of Orangeville and Mr. Jack Thruston of Whitewright were married Saturday.
Mr. Frank Wood and Mrs. Treva Bawer of the Kentuckytown community were married Monday.
Ann LaRoe, Betty Jane Harper, Pattie Everheart, Anna Ruth Johnson, Bessie Joe Russell and Clyde Russell are attending the Girl Scout Camp near Pottsboro.
It was 110 degrees in Whitewright last Saturday.
