Funeral services were held at Oak Hill Cemetery Wednesday Afternoon for Mrs. Laura Lemmons Pridmore, formerly of Trenton, who died at Welch, Oklahoma. Mrs. C.C. Cameron of Dallas is visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Mark Ayres, north of town. Mrs. W.Z. Spearman of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Mrs. May Higdon of Atoka, Oklahoma are visiting their sister, Mrs. R.C. Montgomery, and other relatives here. Hudson, Davis & Co. advertised bleached domestic at 15c per yard, brown domestic at 23 yards for $1.00, a nd shirting at 15c. 30 YEARS AGO (From The Sun, September 2, 1926 R.L. Holcomb was bitten onthe hand by a rabid dog at Comanche last week while he and Mrs. Holcomb were visiting their son, Bryan. S.D. Fulton, northeast of town, bro ught the first bale of cotton to Whitewright Wednesday. Mrs. W.F. Holland moved to Dallas this week. Miss Myrtle Badgett spent the weekend in Dallas, buying stock for Badgett Millinery. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Jones announce the birth of a son on September 1. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Stedham of Salina, Kansas announce the birth of a daughter. Mrs. Stedham is the former Miss Mollie Everheart of Whitewright. C.A. Wilson has bought the old W.H. King home west of town. Appearing on the Epworth League program were Irene Rector, Una Lee Hampton, Kermit Hollingsworth, and Mary Pumphrey. 25 YEARS AGO (From The Sun, September 3, 1931) Postmaster Frank A. King of Whitewright and Miss Thyra Badgett of Denison were married Friday at Durant, Oklahoma. Up to Wednesday night the three Whitewright gins had ginned 400 bales of cotton. Mrs. R.T. Pennington entertained Tuesday afternoon, honoring her son Billy Rhom on his 4th birthday. R.L. Johnson, S.H. Montgomery and Dick Montgomery spent part of last week at Mr. Johnson's cabin on White Rock Lake, near Dallas. Mrs. Grady Gillett and Mrs. R.S. Gillett entertained at the home of the former Monday evening, honoring Mrs. Grover Gillett, who moved to Lubbock this week. Edwin Badgett has returned to Boston, Massachusetts, after visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Badgett, and other relatives here. 20 YEARS AGO (From The Sun, September 3, 1936) Mrs. L.P. Sears, 73, died at her home here Friday morning. Margaret Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Burnham, was painfully injured recently when she fell from a grindstone while playing. Curlee Cummings, principal of the Pilot Grove school last year, has been elected to a position on the faculty of the Bells schools. Mrs. J.W. Andrews was honored with a miscellaneous shower Thursday afternoon by Mrs. ALton Brown and Mrs. Ralph Judd at the Judd home at Pilot Grove. A surprise birthday dinner was given T.B. Blanton at his home northeast of town Sunday. Miss Margaret Barbee and Charles W. Keliehor of Agua Dulce were married Monday evening at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Barbee. Dr. J.F. Spindle is attending the Texas-Oklahoma Dental Association meeting at Dallas this week.
