May, who has been cashier of the First State Bank of Savoy for the pas several years, has resigned to accept a similar position with the Caddo, Oklahoma National Bank. Joe Self has accepted the position of pump man at the Katy plant in the south part of town. Mrs. Frank England of near Ely died Saturday morning as a result of burns received Friday night. M. Jones Roberts has gone to San Antonio where he has employment. Henry Everheart, who lives near Kentuckytown, got his leg broken Tuesday when an injured horse he was doctoring fell on him. Appearing on the B.Y.P.U. program were Miss Gladys McMurry, Roy Epting, Miss Neva McMurry, Mrs. W.J. Epting, Miss Olive Neff, Miss Macie Montgomery, Miss Alma Ryon, Russell McGinnis, and Miss Adah Truett. 30 Years Ago (From The Sun, January 10, 1924) Clarence Pace, who has been working in Denison, has returned home. Bryant Penn has purchased the Lyon-Gray Lumber Yard at Savoy. Mrs. Mary Bray, formerly of the community southwest of town, died at Muenster Wednesday. Mrs. W.F. Fields has announced the marriage on December 22 of her daughter, Miss Vera, to Mr. Guy Allen of Birthright. Miss Edna Taylor and Mr. Jim Swafford were married on January 3 - Mahurin News. Miss Yvonne Henry of Pilot Grove and Mr. Willard Reeves of Whitewright were married Thursday. - Pilot Grove News Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Badgett announce the birth of a daughter on January 4. 25 Years Ago (From The Sun, January 10, 1929) William M. Holcomb, 87, died at his home in Kentuckytown Wednesday. Guy Hamilton, who is the oldest active banker in point of service in Whitewright, has started his 31st consecutive year with the Planters National Bank. Mrs. Cora Simmons has closed a deal for a 164-acre farm southwest of Tom Bean. The consideration is $11,000. W.H. King, for a number of years vice president of the First National Bank, was elected president at the annual stockholders meeting Tuesday. Miss Carrie Hamilton has been appointed matron of the nurses' home at Baylor Hospital, Dallas. Royce Reagan of Kentuckytown and Miss Opal Washburn of Bells were married Saturday. 20 Years Ago (From The Sun, January 11, 1934) Jack Binion, formerly of Whitewright, was killed in an airplane accident at Dallas Wednesday. Following are members of the High School Reflector staff: Editor, Robert Doss Faculty adviser, Miss Gladys Ray Reporters, Billie Earl Montgomery, Merle Robbins, Ruth Jopling, David Smith, Mary Lena Reeves, Inez Coffey, Thomas Sears, Monabelle Biggerstaff, Albert Lea Jackson and Anther Hudgins. Dr. F.D. Layman reports that about $20 worth of gold was stolen from his office one day last week. Mrs. J.P. Darwin entertained Tuesday afternoon honoring her little daughter, Betty Ann, on her fourth birthday. Thomas Gillet is carrying his right arm in a sling, result of swinging at his father, Grady Gillet, in the course of a boxing lesson with Grady as instructor. Grady ducked the swing and Thomas' heavy fist passed over Grady's head with such force that it pulled his shoulder out of place. Thomas D. Reynolds died at his home here Sunday night. Troy Lee Ford, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.D. Ford of Whitewright, and Miss Orah Lee Lewis, southwest of Whitewright, were married Saturday evening.
