Mrs. Joe Johnson got hold of a copy of The Whitewright Sun of June 7, 1907 and let this office borrow it.  The Sun files do not go further back than 1911 and only part of that year is available....

Among...items gleaned from the old newspaper are:
W.B. Womack was buried June 2.
Prof. R.C. Pantermeuhl and family left for Austin.
Prof. Parsons lost a Masonic watch charm.
A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Mullins.
W.B. Hestand of Dallas visited here Sunday.
Maurice and Jack Mullin are attending Tyler Commercial College.
Ira Fleming, with the Gulf Pipe Line, was here Thursday.
Earl Johnson and Arthur Brown were in Sherman first Monday.
Hoard & Sears livery stables have a pair of young coyotes from West Texas.
Murray Bryant is home from Trinity University.
Mr. and Mrs. Turner Pence are entertaining a sweet girl baby at their home here since Monday.
Misses Ethel and Minnie Bradford have returned from a visit at Hugo, Indian Territory.
L.L. Christian has sold his harness and vehicle business to his brother, F.C. Christian.
Prof. T.E. Goff, Prof. G.W. Austin, P.H. Connelly and Miss Fannie Montgomery are attending the summer normal at Tioga.
Kay Kimbell received a letter from his father, B.B. Kimbell at Oakwood, Leon County, saying crop prospects are fine there.
Ben Roberts underwent a successful appendicitis operation at Sherman.
Mrs. Tom Moore left for Genevieve, New York, for a visit.
Miss Fannie Bryant entertained on last Monday night in honor of Miss Neva Smith, for many years a member of the social set here.  Present were Misses Vera Kirkpatrick, Lizzie Smith, Gertrude Moore, Grace Setzer, Theresa Roberts, Clyde Reeves, and Mayfair Boone, and Messrs. Russell Thomlinson, Ernest Melton, Horace Roberts, Louis Randle, Guy Hamilton, Cecil Lively, Howard Brodhead, and Lloyd Moore.

At a meeting of the City Council the Marshall reported that some 20 property holders' sidewalks were in bad condition.  He was ordered to notify them to repair same and if not placed in repair after this notice, he is instructed to tear them out.  Jess Graves was appointed Deputy Marshal.
Warner Jones, P.A. Short, and S.R. Glidewell, committee, announced an Odd Fellows memorial service for June 16.  Members to meet at the lodge hall, hear a memorial sermon by Rev. Griffin of Collinsville, then march in a body to Oak Hill Cemetery and hold memorial services at the graves of deceased members.

Railroad time tables published in the paper showed northbound Katy trains at 11:00 a.m., 2:39 p.m. and 12:02 a.m.; southbound at 4:45 a.m., 1:13 p.m., and 5:21 p.m. The Cotton Belt had two eastbound and two westbound trains daily.
