DOWN MEMORY LANE
35 years ago (From The Sun, July 28, 1916)
In the annual report of the Commercial Club the following appeared: Total receipts, $1132.80; total expenditures, $1132.80.
Mr. and Mrs. Looney Robbins are entertaining a girl at their home.
Someone quietly entered the garage of L.F. Hopkins Thursday night of last week and removed a tire and inner tube from one of the wheels of his automobile.
Lucian LaRoe, 21-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Roberts, died at St. Vincent's Sanitarium, Sherman, Tuesday following an operation.
Mrs. Mabel H. Belcher will be in charge of the children's story hour next Saturday afternoon.
A family reunion was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Chenoweth last Tuesday.
Miss Gertrude Holland entertained last Friday morning.
MIsses Emma and Genevieve Davidson entertained last Saturday from 2 to 5 o'clock with progressive games.

30 years ago (From The Sun, July 29, 1921)
The remains of R.R. Davis, a well known painter of this place, who died suddenly last Thursday, were shipped to Forrest City, Arkansas, where interment was made.
Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Everheart, a boy, Saturday, July 23.
Misses Sallie Joe and Lena Mae Gowdy entertained the 16 members of the As You Like It Club last Thursday.
Beveridge Brents writes The Sun from the Citizens' Military Training Camp at San Antonio: "The Army life is fine, but I don't like it well enough to stay longer than one month..."  (The time of training in the C.M.T.)
L.P. Sears is having a nice house built on his farm south of town.
It has been announced that, following the purchase of the Phoenix Elevators at Sherman, the Kimbell Milling Company will be moved to Sherman, taking the following men: W.L. Newsom, R.H. Jay, and F.A. Benton.  Kay Kimbell will also spend most of his time at the head office.

25 Years ago (From The Sun, July 29, 1926)
Miss Ethel Gordon entertained with a bridge party last Thursday afternoon.
At a meeting of the school board Tuesday evening, B.W. Crain of Clarksville was elected principal of the high school.
Thirty-seven votes were polled by the Republicans here Saturday in nominating candidates for state and county offices.
Garnett Nichols, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Nichols of the Ida community, died in a Sherman hospital Wednesday evening.
W.J. Looney brought The Sun five fine Elberta peaches this week, for which we thank him.  The peaches were picked from one small twig on the tree, and not selected according to size, yet they weighted 2-1/4 pounds.
W.H. Horton was re-elected precinct chairman at the precinct Democratic convention Saturday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Lester Caylor are the parents of a 9-pound boy, born on July 28.

Fourteen nurses, three doctors and the supervisor of nurses at Parkland Hospital, Dallas, are taking the serum treatment against rabies infection, as a result of coming in contact with a patient before her death Saturday at the hospital from hydrophobia.
