40 Years Ago, March 15, 1928

  • The beautiful home of Dr. R. May was destroyed by fire.
  • The Chamber of Commerce will give a $5 cash prize to the person submitting the best advertising slogan for the town.
  • John U. Parker died at St. Vincent's Sanitarium, Sherman, on Friday.
  • Frank R. Ferguson died at his home west of town Friday.
  • J. V. Murphy has bought the R. W. Gallaher 150-acre farm.
  • A daughter was born to Mrs. and Mrs. Bryant King Sunday night.
  • Dr. R. May fell at the Kirkpatrick drug store Thursday and seriously injured his left hip.
  • The following have broken bones caused by cars or roller skates: Roy Hamilton, Raymond Ray, Mason St. John of Pilot Grove, Jack Yeager, Jack Robbins of Ely.
  • Carpenters began work Tuesday on the Boy Scout cabin being built north of the ice house near the Cotton Belt Ry.
  • Mrs. B. S. Montgomery died Wednesday morning.
