WHITEWRIGHT, SEPTEMBER 4
Mr. and Mrs. Will Simmons of Tom Bean spent Saturday night and Sunday at the home of J.D. Badgett.
Ott Lackey was in Fairlie Sunday and was accompanied home by Mrs. Lackey and the two boys who spent a week with relatives there.
Mr. T.B. Obenchain of McKinney was in the city Tuesday securing information as to the volume of business and annual earnings of the several business concerns of Whitewright.  This data will be used along with other statistical information by the promoters of the McKinney-Paris interurban in the general summing up and selection of the route of construction.  It appears to be the purpose of those in charge of this enterprise to go ahead and complete the preliminary work as originally planned, so that when the flurry occasioned by the European war is over they will be ready to properly finance the project and place the contracts for construction of the line.
J.H. Biggerstaff arrived Thursday of last week from Big Springs.  Mrs. Biggerstaff stopped for a few days' visit in Dallas, arriving home Sunday.  Mr. Biggerstaff tells that the western country is riding the crest of the wave this year.  Abundant rain is making that section prosperous and land values are climbing.
