T.H. LIVELY HEADS NEW FIRM
T.H. Lively of this city is now president and general manager of the string of big dry goods stores heretofore conducted by the Steinlein-Lively Co. in several prosperous Texas towns.  At a meeting of the directors and store managers held here Wednesday L.N. Steinlein's stock in the company was taken over, Mr. Lively made president, Benton Roberts of Crockett, vice-president, and Joe L. Thompson of Lone Oak, secretary-treasurer.  Other managers present at the meeting were Lois Lively of Palestine, Clyde Foster of Elkhart, and Leonard Jackson of Italy.  The managership of the big store at this place in the hands of Tal Lively, who succeeds H. Benedict.
Mr. Lively's rapid ascent in the merchandising business is a well earned distinction and indicates in a forceful manner that his business methos have received the approval of the buying public.

He has been a citizen of Whitewright about thirteen years and received his first instructions in the dry goods business under R.M. Lively, who before his death conducted a large store here.  Mr. Lively has kept public attention continually directed to his stores by the liberal use of printer's ink, hence the volume of business has contributed mainly to his success while it has also enabled him to sell at close margins  of profit.  About five years ago he started in business here on his own account with a bankrupt stock which he purchased.  A year later he became identified with the Steinlein-Lively stores, which have met with remarkable success under his supervision.

Benton Roberts, the new vice-president of the company, that conducts the several stores, is also a Whitewright boy and is by no means a novice in the dry goods business.  He has shown good judgment and executive ability in handling the affairs of the store to which he has been assigned.

D. Orendorff, who conducts the Van Alstyne store of the Steinlein-Lively Co., arrived here on the Flyer Sunday afternoon enroute home from St. Louis, where he spent several days inspecting and making selections of spring and summer merchandise for his store.  Mrs. Orendorff, who visited Mrs. T.H. Lively during Mr. Orendorff's absence, accompanied him to Van Alstyne Monday.

The Scenic Theatre had a vaudeville billed for the first three nights of this week, but after Monday night's performance the company was dismissed, for the reason that it did not come up to the requirements of the managers of the Scenic exact.  The Sun desires to compliment Messrs. Williams for demanding first class attractions, especially with reference to vaudeville.

The work of installing the metallic circuit and cable system by the Southwestern Telephone Co. here is nearing the completed stage.  The cables have been strung and most of the telephone boxes connected up under the new system, followed by a noticeable improvement in service.

Elder E.C.L. Denton, who arrived from Nashville, Tenn., a fortnight ago to visit his son, C.J. Denton and children, was confined at the house for several days following his arrival here on account of an injury received at Nashville just before his departure for Texas.  He was crossing one of the principal thoroughfares of Nashville when a sheep which was fleeing from a dog struck him, knocking him down and injuring his knee.  He has now sufficiently recovered from the mishap to enable him to get about among his Whitewright friends.

J.M. Denton, Woodmen of the World organizer, was here from Denison Saturday to put on foot a campaign for new members.  Mr. Denton announced his intention of returning here to attend the regular meeting of the local lodge on Wednesday night of next week and will probably be accompanied by other loyal Woodmen from Denison, at which time a campaign of personal work will be inaugurated.

Dr. J.N. Powell, a certificate Mason, will teach a class in the work of the fraternity at Bells, going up each night as long as his services are needed.
