A PRETTY RECEPTION
Mrs. W.H. King opened her beautiful new home on Maple street with a large reception to her many friends Thursday of last week.
The home was beautifully lighted with pink wax candles and incandescent lights.  An added attraction was the decorations of cut flowers and ferns.  The dark and richly colored autumn leaves blended with the old English furnishings in the reception hall and yellow plume chrysantheums nodded from the mantle.  Pink carnations were used as the centerpiece in the dining room.  Pink tulle draped from the chandelier, ended in cunning little bows on the table.
In the library red carnations were seen upon the mantle and table.
Mrs. T.E. Sears greeted the guests at the door and introduced Mrs. King and the receiving line of Mesdames Head, McMurray, Fender, Ray, Mountcastle, and W.T. Sears.
In a flowery corner of ferns Misses Sue King and Gladys Sears served cherry punch.
The guests lingered in the parlor where Mrs. Emmet Penn and Mrs. J.A. McKinney received, to listen to the music given by Misses Little, German, and Ray.
In the dining room were Misses Lou Sears, Inez Ray, Loubel King, Ruth Cox and Mrs. Paul Roberts, who served brick cream and cake, pink and white mints.
In the rear hall were Mesdames J.W. Davidson, T.H. Sears, J.L. Dyer, and Joe Hamilton, who showed the guests into the library.  Here Mrs. C.B. Bryant and Miss Willie Mountcastle inscribed the names in a beautiful register.
Miss Doris Ayres stood at the door to bid each one good bye.  One hundred and fifty guests enjoyed the hospitality of this charming hostess and will long remember the "housewarming" at this lovely home.

The home was lived in by Ruth and Bryant King after 1948.

Jack and Gene Meador bought and remodeled the home in 1966 and were continuing to live there as of 2002.
