Hamilton-Daniels House

corner of Spruce and Gowdy Streets

Mr. Guy Hamilton had the Carpenter style, Queen Anne Victorian style 9-room house built in 1901 by LaRoe Lumber Co.

The house was purchased by Dan Kent in 1968 and in 1989 by Phil and Marilyn Daniels, who turned it into the Hamiton House Gallery & Woodsong Institute of Art as well as their home.  Mrs. Daniels, after visiting Natchez, Mississippi to study the colors of the historic homes on the pilgrimage tours of the city, returned home, having picked a beautiful rose pink for the exterior of the house, with white and peach trim; deep green shutters complete the exterior.  Ted Pickett Construction Co. worked to re-paint the home with 40 gallons of pain after cleaning, scraping, priming.
