Ayres Will Open Dry Goods Store Here
T.W. Ayres and son, Chas. E. Ayres, of Trenton have leased the Bryant building,
formerly occupied by the Lilley Dry Goods Co., in which they will open a dry
good store about April 15. Mr. Ayres has
been in the dry goods business at Trenton for a number of years, and will
continue his store there. His son will
have charge of the Whitewright store, and will move to Whitewright.
Mr. Ayres will put in a general stock of dry goods and ready-to-wear. The stock will be new and complete in every
respect, he said. Mr. Ayres said he had
had his eye on Whitewright for several years, during which time he had been
waiting for an opportunity to open a store here. The opportunity has arrived, he said. Merchandise can now be bought for less money
than in many years, he said. Mr. Ayres
is of the opinion that prices will begin to advance before the fall season
arrives, and that business conditions will begin to improve before many more
weeks of the Roosevelt administration passes by. In other words, Mr. Ayres thinks the corner
r. Hoover talked about so much has been knocked into a cocked hat, and he
wanted to get located in Whitewright, the best town in Texas, before the grand
rush.
Chas. E. Ayres, who will have charge of the store, is a young, progressive
business man. He is already known to a number of our people, and will find a
welcome awaiting him when he comes to Whitewright to make his home.
