Diamond Family
The Diamond family came from Georgia and lived about a mile west of town.    In the early 1850s Mr. James R. Diamond
and his brother John established the Diamond Ranch.  The ranch was selected as a depot in the area when the Butterfield stage line started its trek across the United States.

George Diamond went to Houston and founded a newspaper there called the "Houston Post".  After eleven members of
the family died of yellow fever in 1867, George returned to Whitesboro.
