  North Texas Fine Arts Association Building Formerly Butterfield Stage Depot (Times photo) GRAYSON HISTORICAL BUILDING IN TIOGA
Monday, March 27, 2000, Grayson County Commissioners unveiled a state historical marker at Grayson County Courthouse. This marker denotes the Sherman stop on the route west for the Butterfield Overland Mail in the late 1850s. Right here in Tioga we have a pice of history from that mail route. The North Texas Fine Arts Association meets in the former depot for the Butterfield stage lines. The building formerly was located in Whitesboro, but was donated to the association and moved to Tioga several years ago. The Butterfield Stage did not come through Tioga, but the building here gives us reason to remember the old stage line....
