The Whitewright Sun
Thursday, June 28, 1956 pg. 1 B.R. LUPER of the Whiterock community came in Monday to renew his subscription and in conversation with him we learned that he is probably the oldest native of this community who has been a subscriber down through the years. Born in the Canaan community the same year the Katy railroad came to Whitewright and established the town (1878), Mr. Luper has lived in the Whiterock community practically all his life with the exception of a year spent on the Grayson-Fannin County line. "That year our kitchen was in one county and the other part of the house was in another county," he said. Looking ten years younger than his 78 years, he said, "I just try to live like the Lord wants me to."
