The first bank was the First National Bank, which opened for business on June 2, 1890. Scott S Duman was the first president. Dixie D. Thompson was the cashier and Louis A. Cartwright was the bookkeeper.

C. C. Walsh opened the second bank, Farmers National Bank, in 1903. Walsh was president. G. W. Hays was the cashier and Louis A. Cartwright was the bookkeeper. The bank became Continental State Bank.
It was sold to the Continental Bank and Trust Company in Fort Worth. In 1930 it was, again, sold to the First National Bank.

The building above is located on Marshall Street. It once housed the old Continental Bank.
