The
first bank was the First National Bank, which opened for business on
June 2, 1890. Scott S. Dumas was the first president. Dixie S.
Thompson was the cashier and Louis A. Cartwright was the bookkeeper.
C. C. Walsh opened the second bank, Farmers National Bank, in 1903. Walsh was president. G. W. Hay was the cashier and Louis A. Cartwright was the bookkeeper. The bank became Continental State Bank. it was sold to the Continental Bank and Trust Company in Fort Worth. In 1930 it was again sold to First National Bank. Van Alstyne Susan Hawkins © 2024 |
