"The Star Well Company, managed by W.T. Spears,' sold a condensed mineral water which had been boiled down to 2 per cent of its original volume. Tioga drew its share of doctors as the mineral water became more commercialized.

In 1890 there were two doctors out of a total population of 200: Drs. J.S. Nichols and Robert Craig.  Advertisements in the Tioga Tribune in 1902 showed three doctors: Dr. E. E. Ledbetter, Dr. R. W. Sadler and Dr. C. R. Carver.  By 1914, there were two doctors: Dr. Ledbetter and Dr. John C.M. Carty.
