Mr. Parks was married November 27, 1879, to Miss Betty Stephens, who, with her parents, made the trip to Texas with Mr. Parks. To this union 5 children were born, only one surviving, Roy Parks of Trinidad. In July 1904, they came to Tioga. Mr. Parks buying the Star mineral well, which he operated until March 1937, selling the property to J.L. Kennedy. Mrs. Parks died August 4, 1911, and on April 23, 1914, Mr. Parks was married to Mrs. Laura Saxon of Leonard. Mr. Parks was Tioga's second Mayor and again in 1916, serving in all 4 years. He was a member of the Grayson county school board for 15 consecutive years, missing only 5 meetings during the time. He was returned to the board in 1937. Mr. Parks has been a member of the Baptist church 60 years. He learned to read music and to play the violin when past 58 years of age....
