Fort Worth Gazette June 20, 1894 Tioga, Tex., June 17. – Died at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. U.A. Magee, June 16, 7:30 pm, Mr. J.C. “Uncle Joe” Moody. He was born in Buncombe county, North Carolina, February 4, 1816, and was therefore nearly 79 years old. Also, Elroy, infant son of George and Florence Kitchens on the evening of the 16th, aged 5 months. (FAG # 93109388) Fort Worth Gazette June 21, 1894 Tioga, Tex., June 20. – John Hudspeth, who lives near here, had his collar bone broken and shoulder bone dislocated by a mule falling on him. Plenty of water was found at a depth of 33 feet in the Tioga public well and buildings for the accommodation of the public are completed. Fort Worth Gazette July 4, 1894 Tioga, Tex., July 3. – While handling a young horse yesterday near Howe, Mr. Charles Goodman of this place was kicked in the face by the animal, fracturing the bones of the jaw, necessitating the removal of a part of the upper bone with five teeth attached. Prof. B.T. Gafford of Van Alstyne has been employed to teach the school for Tioga for the next year. Tioga, Tex., July 5. – A mad cow belonging to Mr. Joshua Miller, near Collinsville, caused quite a lively time there on the morning of the 2nd instant by attacking and killing a valuable horse belonging to a Mr. Hiram Nichols, near there, and doing other damage before it was killed. Willie Boen, a son of a widow lady living near Ethel, was kicked by a vicious mule and badly hurt on the morning of the 2nd instant. Miss Cecil Reede and her brother, Master Walter, started to their new home in Parsons, Kan., on the 3rd. Mr. Matt Hart and Miss Susie Phillips, both of Tioga were married on the evening of the 4th at the Baptist church, Rev. Mr. Beauchamp officiating. (Fort Worth Gazette, July 6, 1894) Fort Worth Gazette July 8, 1894 Tioga, Tex., July 7. – Little Marvin Rutherford died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dr. Rutherford, near here at an early hour on the morning of July 6, aged 14 years. Fort Worth Gazette August 17, 1894 Tioga, Tex., August 16. – At her home in North Tioga at 6 o’clock, this morning of typhoid fever, Mrs. Belle Leftwich, widow of C.C. Leftwich, deceased, died in the 34th year of her age. She died as she has lived for twelve years, a consistent Methodist Episcopal church member, loved and respected by all who knew her. Tioga, Tex., Sept. 14. – Miss Maggie Wagoner died at about 4 o’clock yesterday morning at the house of her mother. She was about 20 years of age and would have been married in a short time, had she lived, to one of our most popular young men here.
