Tioga's First Bale of 1943 Cotton Ginned Thursday

The first bale of 1943 cotton was brought to Tioga Thursday, August 12, by Henry G. Lubbers, who farms east of Tioga.
The cotton was ginned and wrapped free by the Farmers gin, L.C. Chaffin, manager.
The 1,337 pounds of seed cotton made a bale of lint cotton wheighing 56 pounds.
The cotton was bought by the Farmers gin, paying 22 cents per pound, totalling $111.54.
The seed weighed 830 pounds, at $50 per ton, netted $41.
Total amount received for the cotton and seed, $152.54, with a premium of $16.25, plus a year's subscription to The Herald, makes a total of $172.79, which Mr. Lubbers received.
The first bale of 1942 was ginned August 28, and for 1941, September 1.
