Sperry,
Texas was located in southern Grayson County. The community was
named for F. C. L. Sperry, who donated land for the townsite
around 1901 when the St. Louis, San Francisco and Texas Railroad was
built through the area.
The community had a post office between the years 1903 and 1907. The population in 1910 was fifty. By 1940, Sperry had become a switch on the rail line. Sometime afterwards, it was abandoned. 1873 Plat Sperry School Texas State Historical Association The Handbook of Texas Towns Susan Hawkins © 2024 If you find any of Grayson County TXGenWeb links inoperable, please send me a message. |
