Friday, September 22, 1928 pg. 4 Southmayd Youth Killed by Train Sherman, Sept. 22 - John W. Stephens, 21, was decapitated and badly mangled when struck by a freight train near his home at Southmayd, southwest of here, last night. Stephens was killed a few minutes after he had waved goodbye to his mother and started to town. His body was not found until an hour later when his father started to town over the same route.
