Sherman
Courier
Prior to the publication of The Sherman Courier, a newspaper known as the Sherman Star was in publication. Maj. Kit Owlsey made its appearance on March 28, 1867. (Dallas Herald, March 30, 1867, pg. 2)
It
appears that the only surviving issues of the Sherman Courier are from
1917, which also happens to be the paper's 50th anniversary edition.
When Kit Owsley sold his interest in the new newspaper to Col.
T.C. Bass and Silas Hare, they became proprietors of the
newspaper while C.W. Miller retained control of the paper as publisher.
