The Monument Fund

Sherman, Tex., Oct. 8 - Dr. J. T. Wilson, captain commanding Mildred Lee camp, United Confederate Veterans, is encouraged at the result of the meeting of the committee on the monument fund last evening. During the session the camp has arrangements with some of the best attractions to turn over a certain amount of the receipts to the monument fund.

Sherman, Tex., Oct. 10 - The committees who have in charge the soliciting of funds to remove the indebtedness hanging over the confederate monument in this city are succeeding admirably. Mrs. J.W. Stewart, Sr., a member of the committee, in speaking of the matter, said to The News correspondent:
"One very gratifying feature, to us old veterans at least, is the interest the young men and especially the members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans camp are taking in it."

Ex-Congressman Silas Hare remitted a neat donation of $25 from Washington and it was received to-day.
