Former Sherman Man Promoted
Harry K. Bean of Decatur, Illinois,
vice president, food products division, Archer Daniels Midland Co. is
assuming the responsibilities of the man who gave him his first job.
When
Ellis D. English retires as vice president, marketing, Bean will add
English's marketing functions to his continuing duties as manager of
the food products division. His office will remain in Decatur.
Lowell W. Andreas, ADM president, said Bean's additional assignment is effective February 15, the date of English's retirement.
Bean's
first job was in 1940 as a part time laborer ad ADM's former Sherman,
Texas, flour mill. The man who hired him was Ellis English.
After 2
years with ADM's Sherman mill, World War II service and extensive
experience in the vegetable oils business with other companies, Bean
rejoined ADM in 1966 as vice-president, vegetable oils division. The
division subsequently was enlarged to include ADM's soy specialities
food products as well as soy bean oils and was renamed the food
products division.

K. Bean has been named president and Edward Cahan, vice president of
the new ADM Food Oils Co., Decatur, Illinois. Both men are former
Sherman residents and former employes of Anderson Clayton Foods Co.

According to a company spokesman, the food oils company has
been formed to process, package and market edible vegetable oil
products. It is a subsidiary of the Areher Daniels Midland Co. of
Decatur, Illinois.
Bean said a new plant is being built adjacent to the parent company's refinery in Decatur.
