Lordsburg, New Mexico June 5, 1896 H.L. Gammon, formerly a well known Lordsburger, was recently elected mayor of Pottsboro, Texas. Mr. Gammon was a candidate on the free silver ticket. Although the gold bugs spent big money trying to defeat him his personal popularity was so strong that he was triumphantly elected and carried his entire ticket with him. Except El Paso Pottsboro is probably the only city in Texas which is presided over by a mayor who is a Republican.
