Austin Statesman Austin, Texas April 7, 1892 STORMS IN TEXAS Severe Wind, Rain and Hail Do Heavy Damage Over the State Special to The Statesman Denison, Tex., April 4 - During the heavy storm of Saturday Mr. L.L. Hassard, a farmer living in the Fort Washita neighborhood, 29 miles northwest of Denison, was struck by lightning and instantly killed. Mr. Hassard leaves a widow and two children in comfortable circumstances. Two horses were killed by the same bolt, and a barn and shed were lifted from their foundations and carried 100 yards into an adjoining field. The cyclone ran in a straight path about a half mile wide. Much damage was done to crops and many fences and small farm buildings were levelled to the ground. SEVER STORM AT POTTSBORO Pottsboro, Texas, April 4 - One Jim Bounds' cowboys brought the news yeaterday that the storm did much damage in the neighborhood of Larkin, demolishing several houses, killing a girl. A. J. Lewis had a team of horses, buggy and harness swept out of existence, and he was seriously hurt also. One piece of a spring was that was found of the outfit. Dick Baird, of Pottsboro, had his shoulder dislocated by a fall from his horse in the same storm. HOUSE WRECKED IN SHERMAN Sherman, April 4 - From the scene of the storm which passed over this county last night, comes the news that a family by the name of Claybook were all badly hurt out on Mineral creek.
