Shiner, Texas February 20, 1896 A young man named Clemmons, while hunting for a cow between Denison and Pottsboro, came upon a house in which a woman and 5 children were almost naked and starving. A neighboring farmer, to whom the case was reported, provided a supply of clothing and food. They were strangers in that section.
