Gazette April 19, 1888 Fight Over a Division Fence Special to the Gazette Pottsboro, Tex., April 18 – Quite a row occurred about five miles west of this place yesterday between two old farmers and their sons, in regard to a division fence. “Uncle Dud” Connor and his son, C.R. Connor, on one side, and Robert McLean and two sons, William and Edward, on the other, all full grown men. All were engaged at once, using clubs, poles and fists, while dogs belonging to both parties, took part in the affray. There is an old grudge between the parties, and they have had several lawsuits. They had a spite fence for several years, but that did not keep them apart. If they had been armed properly it would have been a bloody and serious affair, as both parties are grit to the backbone . They separated to get their guns, but did not meet again. They were arrested and put under bond, and will have their trial at the next term of court .
