The box supper given Saturday night was very successful.  The crowd was small, owing to rain, but those present enjoyed the occasion.  The cake brought $25.00 and was given to Miss Jewel Hewlett.  The vote was 1285 for Miss Hewlett and 1270 for Miss Mildred Caraway.  The proceeds of the supper were forty-two dollars.
The Pilot Grove public school has received information from the State Department of Education to the effect that $500.00 had been appropriated as State aid to the school.  There was a meeting Monday night of teachers, trustees and patrons to discuss school affairs.  The meeting was a very enthusiastic one, and several good talks were made by the patrons. The Pilot Grove school now has money with which to conduct a full eight months term.  The school board will at once begin the making of needed improvements on the building and grounds.  The people, as well as those in charge, are doing splendid work in behalf of the school, and now that the State aid is assured, there will be no backward step in the educational progress of the community.
Mid-terms examinations are the order of the day at school this week.
Bro. Rylant filled his regular appointment at the Baptist church Sunday, and Bro. Fogery Sunday evening.
Prof. Maxey was in Sherman Saturday on school business.
