Thursday, November 25, 1926 pg. 8 PILOT GROVE NEWS The winter like weather we have been having here, keeps the farmers feeling blue over the amount of work to do. Some are expecting to have to pick cotton all winter. Mr. and Mrs. Scott McSpedden and little daughter and niece, Miss Welsh, of Wichita Falls were guests of relatives here the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kaiser and Mrs. Jewel Hopper were Denison visitors Tuesday. D.W. Garland of Ft. Worth spent a few days here last week. J.K. Sparks and family of Tom Bean visited relatives here Sunday. Mrs. Roy Norris, who has been very ill, is improving. Mrs. Annie Tate and children visited in Sherman the past week-end. Several from here attended the funeral of Mrs. McKinney, at Cannon, Sunday afternoon. The Pilot Grove Methodist Church has been connected with Anna and Melissa work. A.L. Scott and others from here attended church service at Anna Sunday in order to meet the new pastor and arrange monthly preaching date here. Mrs. Earl Benson was bitten by a dog two weeks ago. The circumstances at that time and the disposition of the dog did not excite any uneasiness, and no alarm was felt until last week, when the dog's actions aroused suspicion. Last Saturday evening the dog attacked the stock, and also put Mr. Benson to flight. He immediately killed the dog and sent its head to Austin. A telegram was received from there Monday stating that the dog had rabies. Both Mr. and Mrs. Benson are now taking the serum. Mr. Benson was not bitten by the dog, but having some scratches on the hands, and having cared for the dog the past few days, he thought it unwise to take further risk.
