Thursday, December 24, 1925 pg. 8 PILOT GROVE NEWS The cold weather last week was fine for hog killing, and this week's cold is the kind of weather to enjoy backbones and spareribs. S.F. Garland was transacting business in Dallas last week. C.B. Nelly is home for the Christmas holidays from Tyler business college at Tyler. George Reeves and Durand Garland of Ft. Worth visited relatives here Wednesday and Thursday. Ralph Judd, who is teaching near Celina is home for the holidays. Little Elizabeth Barr of Dallas is visiting her aunt, Miss Mollie Scott, and other relatives here. Lee Binion, a teacher in one of the Texarkana schools, is spending the holidays here with his father, R.E.L. Binion, and other relatives. D.C. Judd, who has been in the aviation training camp at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma during the past year, "flew" down Saturday to spend Christmas with homefolks. Sunday schools and church services were all well attended here Sunday, regardless of the cold, bad weather. Monday, members of the Methodist church, in a house to house canvass, raised a nice offering for the orphanage at Waco. On account of the school being opened late in the season, only a 2-day holiday will be given. The pupils will render a short program Wednesday afternoon in connection with the customary school tree in the auditorium of the school building. School will then be dismissed till the next Monday. The community and Sunday school tree will be had at the Baptist church Thursday evening. An accident occurred on the road a mile west of town Monday afternoon when at truck loaded with household goods and driven by some colored people overturned at a curve in the road, spilling bedding, furniture, chickens, etc. over a wire fence into the field. The truck was damaged to some extent and much of the furniture was broken up, but no one was injured. Members of the Methodist church were from here Tuesday evening to Blue Ridge, carrying a nice pounding to the pastor, Rev. Wilson.
