Aunt Frank Ferguson, who has been making her home here with Mrs. A.H. St. John, fell last Tuesday, dislocating her hip. She was carried in an ambulance to the home of her son, Gus Ferguson, at Nobility, Wednesday and is improving slowly. R.E.L. Binion and son Tom made a businesss trip to Wichita Falls and Childress last week. Bert Morris and family moved to West Texas last week. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Taylor will move to the place vacated by Mr. Morris, which is a part of the Dumas tract of land west of Pilot Grove. Bill Dixon made a business trip to Ralls last week. Mrs. Annie Tate and son Dee have returned from a several weeks visit in West Texas. Mrs. D.M. Taylor entertained the Bow Corner Home Demonstration Club with a social Tuesday night. Club members and their families, numbering about 20, were present. Edgar and Miss Foy Bow, who are attending school at Commerce, spent the week-end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.G. Bow. S.F. Garland was in Sherman Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. M.G. Davis of Trenton were Thanksgiving guests of R.E.L. Binion and family. Morris McCarley, a student at Commerce, spent the week-end at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim McCarley. Mrs. Tom Binion visited her father, J.C. McAfee, near Trenton last week. Miss Lois and Doss Chism, who are attending school at Commerce, spent Thanksgiving at home. S.G. Ashinhurst and daughter, Mrs. S.F. Garland, were guest of Mrs. A.K. Sparks at Tom Bean Thursday. Mrs. Forrest Doggett and children of Van Alstyne spent the latter part of the week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.M. Taylor. Mr. and Mrs. Pascal Binion of Dallas were guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Z.W. Binion Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Holmes and son Max of Trenton were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thad Rhoads Thursday. Prof. W.A. Smart of Denison spent Thursday here with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Ricketts and Miss Hunter of Sherman were guests of Miss Pauline Binion Thursday. Misses Florence Wilson and Alwilda Ryon of Whitewright were week-end guests of Miss Louise Sloan. Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Hopper and F. Lovell and family were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Caraway at Desert. Relatives gave Mrs. A.H. St. John a surprise Thanksgiving dinner Thursday. Those present were: A.B. St. John and family; A.V. St. John and family; Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Spangler; and Mrs. L.F. Swanger, Trenton; Jim Matthews and family and Mr. and Mrs. Bates, Desert. Misses Cordelia Russell and Virginia Benson, students in Whitewright high school, spent the past week-end with their parents here. A.B. St. John was in Dallas on business first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Burks were in McKinney Saturday where they obtained through court proceedings the custody of their twelve-year-old granddaughter, Lillian Morgan, whose mother, Mrs. Lavada Mitchell, died a few months ago. Don Hopper and family of Sherman visited relatives here Sunday. Dr. A.H. Knox of Krum visited friends here first of the week. A.T. (grandpa) Scott is very ill with the flu this week. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Holland and children of Kentuckytown were guests of G.E. Thrift and family Thursday. The Pilot Grove boys' and girls' basketball teams went to Tom Bean Thursday and played against the school teams there, winning both games. The boys scored 23 to 13 and the girls 37 to 5. Tom Bean was suffering with limber neck when the last game ended, and Pilot Grove boys and girls came home in high spirits. The annual chicken roast Thursday night, which had its beginning seven years ago when a few families met and roasted a half dozen chickens, has outgrown all expectations and intentions. The crowd Thursday night was estimated as six or seven hundred. The number of chickens proviced, some six or eight dozen, was not sufficient to feed the multitude. Rev. J.E. Dunn of Dallas, who has accepted the pastorate of the Christian Church here for the coming year, preached Saturday night, Sunday morning and night. This preaching date conflicts with the regular preaching dates of the Baptist Church, and efforts are being made to relieve this as soon as possible. Sunday schools and all preaching services had good attendance here Sunday. Miss Georgia Lee Neathery of Sherman spent the week-end here with relatives. Work of graveling the division of road from the Bow corner to Cannon began here Monday. The work is being done altogether by home labor. No trucks will be employed to haul gravel on this section of the road, but the farmers and taxpayers who have wagons and teams and who need the money are to get the work. Work will be started at the west end, where several landowners offer free gravel for the road. The senior B.Y.P.U. of Pilot Grove was well attended Sunday night. The class is looking forward to a bright and prosperous future. We thank God for his leadership and for his loving kindness. All visitors are welcome. - - -Secretary.
