Thursday, November 18, 1926 pg. 8 PILOT GROVE NEWS Mrs. J.S. Edwards returned to her home at Slaton last week, after a visit with her her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thad Rhodes. Mrs. Howard Faulkner and baby of Dallas spent a few days here the past week with relatives. Mrs. F.M. Sloan and daughter, Miss Roberta, were Leonard visitors Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Morris of Sherman were guests of R.E.L. Binion and family Thursday. Miss Zola Swanger of Trenton visited relatives here one day last week. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Norris, on the 9th, a son. Mrs. Norris is seriously ill. D.M. Taylor and family were Farmersville visitors Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Ashley and baby of Medlintown were guests of S.F. Garland and family the latter part of the week. A half holiday was given in the school here Thursday. Some few of the farmers are finishing the cotton crop, but a scarcity of hands still prevails. The school attendance is increasing. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Andrews were Denison visitors Friday. Mrs. Tom Matthews of Luella spent the week-end with relatives here. A goodly representation of Pilot Grove folks attended the District B.Y.P.U. meeting at Whitewright Sunday afternoon, and took part in the program. The next meeting will be with the B.Y.P.U. at this place on the 2nd Sunday in December. A.V. St. John celebrated the finishing up of his cotton picking last Thursday night by giving a chicken roast to the local help, who had assisted throughout the fall in gathering the crop. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Burr Hulet, Mr. and Mrs. Clint Hopper, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Reynolds, Mrs. Charles Kaiser, Mr. and Mrs. W.F, St. John, J.E Scott, J.A. Scott, Mason St. John, Misses Marian Barbee, Lavelle Jeffries and Callie Taylor. The District Farm Club transacted some important business at the last meeting. Various committees for different departments were appointed and are getting to work. Already plans are being made for the interest and growth of the club, and for a bigger and better fair next fall. The next meeting will be Thursday night, November 25th. At that time "Tree Planting" will be discussed by Mr. Hull of the Texas Nursery Co., Sherman. J.R. Westbrook, the newly elected road commissioner, will be present and address the club. The entertainment feature of the program will consist of music and readings suiting the occasion of Thanksgiving.
