PILOT GROVE NEWS
Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Spangler of Orangeville spent a few days here with relatives last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Benson were Sherman visitors Tuesday.
D.W. Garland of Ft. Worth and his mother, Mrs. J.D. Garland of Dallas, were here the first of the week.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dixon were guests of relatives at Pottsboro Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. S.F. Garland and Miss Callie Taylor were Sherman visitors Wednesday.
G.E. Thrift and Charley Kaiser were in Dallas Friday.
Miss Louise Sloan spent the weekend in Whitewright with her sister, Mrs. Gilmore Webster.
Prof. W.C. Smart was in Bonham Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Thrift visited relatives at Tom Bean Sunday afternoon.
W.E. Evans and family visited relatives at Van Alstyne Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Taylor spent Sunday in Tom Bean with their son, M.L. Taylor and family.
Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Southerland of Trenton were guests of Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Neely Sunday.
Miss Vona Mae McAlister, one of the teachers here, spent the week-end with her parents at Westminster.
Miss Lowrey Neely spent Friday night with Miss Marian Barbee at Whitewright.
Aunt Betty Sloan and Mrs. A.H. St. John are on the sick list this week.  Mrs. St. John has pneumonia.
Mr. and Mrs. Charley Kaiser visited her mother at Trenton Sunday afternoon.
The Pilot Grove basketball teams won three games the past week.  The boys played Westminster here Wednesday afternoon, defeating the visitors 11 to 9.  Both the boys' and the girls' teams played Savoy at that place Friday afternoon, the boys winning 32 to 12 and the girls, 15 to 6.  Honoring the team, Mrs. Minnie Dixon presented to them on Monday at noon a delicious and beautifully decorated cake.
There was good attendance at the Sunday schools, also at the preaching hours at the Baptist Church, Sunday.
There will be preaching at the Methodist Church on next Friday night and Saturday night by the pastor, Rev. Wilson.  The preaching dates have been changed here from first to third Sundays at the Methodist Church, and from third to first Sunday at the Christian Church.
J.D. Bradford was here Sunday to see his sister, Mrs. Mary Judd.  He and Mrs. Judd have also been at the bedside of their sister, Mrs. Maddox, who is very ill at Whitewright.
The Farmers Club met at the school auditorium Thursday evening with a splendid program, consisting of music, instrumental and vocal; readings and very interesting talks and discussion on timely topics.  A large crowd was present, most of whom enrolled as members of the club.  Some business pertaining to the future work of the club was dispensed with.  A program committee was appointed and February 25 was set as the next date of meeting.  Regular meetings will follow this date every two weeks.  It is the aim of the program committee to provide both entertainment and instruction.  Mr. Pat Mayes, editor of the Sherman Democrat, is expected to be here at the next meeting.
