PILOT GROVE NEWS LETTER
Our school opened its second month with an enrollment of 104.   The compulsory term has not opened yet; the trustees thinking it better to wait until cotton picking and boll pulling is about over.  They have not yet set the time.
We have an able corps of teachers and under the supervision of our principal, Prof. W.N. Holley, they are doing excellent work, and our school bids fairi to be the most successful in the history of Pilot Grove, not only is the literary work progressing but the music under the direction and personal instruction of Mrs. Merritt is up to the A-1 standard.
The school here has been going to the front by leaps and bounds for the last 2 years, and we regret that we will not be able to hold our principal for another year, but we expect to see him engaged in the work, in a position that will enable him to be of more use to use, viz. that of County Superintendent of Public Instruction.  He is certainly capable and deserves the promotion.
Our school is planning, as it did last year, to take part in the Inter Scholastic League contest, next spring, and win some of the honors, and that we know if we are represented.
The Ladies Aid Society have purchased a new piano for the Baptist church.
Miss Nola Reeves, assistant teacher, of the Sedalia Public school, spent Saturday and Sunday with her mother.
Mrs. A.T. Bridges, of Honey Grove, is visiting friends of this community.
Gus Thrift and family were in Gunter Sunday.
