Friday, August 25, 1916 pg. 6 Pilot Grove News The series of meetings conducted by Dr. George W. Sherman, of the First Baptist church of Denison, closed Friday night with 25 conversions and about that many additions to the church. Old settlers say that this has been one of the greatest meetings ever held here. The church has been greatly strengthened and the community at large has benefited. Prof. A.H. Maxey, who was principal of the school at this place last year, is here assisting in the installing of the new heating system. Mrs. F.M. Sloan has returned from an extended visit to relatives and friends in Tennessee. She was accompanied home by her niece who will remain in Pilot Grove for some time. Mrs. Nora Dennis and son, Doyl, of Sherman, are visiting relatives and friends here. F.M. Sloan and Stanley Garland made a trip to Sherman Sunday morning. At this writing Gus Thrift is making preparations to take a trip to south Texas. Bro. Watkins, pastor of the Methodist church at this place, is now in west Texas conducting a meeting. Will Judd who has been visiting relatives in Dallas has returned ho me. The Ladies of the Woodmen Circle will give an ice cream supper at the home of Mrs. Tom McSpeden next Friday night.
