Thursday, May 20, 1926 pg. 8 PILOT GROVE NEWS At a meeting of the school board last week, it was decided to continue the school a week longer, and not close it this week. The closing exercises will be given Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights of next week. Ralph Judd came home Sunday after the close of the Scaggs school near Celina, where he served as principal for the past 2 years. The board of trustees asked him to take the principalship again next year, but he has not accepted yet. Mrs. Juanita Wood of Wichita Falls arrived last week for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Andrews. Mrs. J.S. Edwards of Menard is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thad Rhodes. Miss Ita Lovell left Sunday for Ft. Worth to assist her sister, Miss Ruth Lovell, in the closing exercises of her school at Saginaw. D.C Judd is home from Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, where he has been in the army aviation school for some time. Mr. and Mrs. B.R. Lawrence of Whitewright were guests of Mrs. Lawrence's parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Lovell, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Binion and daughter, Miss Dorothy, of Dallas spent Sunday here with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Will Lee of Whitewright and Mrs. Will Lane of Savoy visited relatives here Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clint Hopper, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Kaiser, and Mason St. John were in Sherman Sunday afternoon to see Miss Carrie Sue Cameron, who continues critically ill following an attack of double pneumonia. Mrs. S.T. McSpedden and son and Mrs. Bernice Davis, accompanied by Mrs. Wilkerson of El Paso, went to Colbert, Oklahoma Monday for a day's visit with relatives. Mrs. Wilkerson remained for an extended visit with her daughters there. Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Henderson and son Otis of Sherman and Mrs. W.D. Ownby of Whitewright were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Morton Ashinhurst Sunday. Sunday school and preaching services had fine attendance last Sunday. Rev. Wilson preached at the Methodist Church at the morning and evening hour. At the close of the morning service all mothers in the congregation were asked to come to the front, when, standing in line, a very touching service followed as the people by warm handclasp and tear-dimmed eyes expressed to them love, honor, respect and appreciation, and a desire to see motherhood and womanhood continue to hold the first place in the affections of our citizenship. Mrs. A.B. Barnes, the oldest mother present, was presented a beautiful bouquet of roses. Mrs. Barnes is 78 years old.
