Thursday, July 8, 1926 pg 8 PILOT GROVE NEWS Farmers are making good use of the fine weather. Most of the grain will be threshed this week. Corn and cotton are looking fine. George Reeves and sister, Miss Nola, of Fort Worth visited friends here Thursday and Friday. Mrs. F.M. Sloan, who has been suffering with rheumatism, is spending a few weeks at Tioga, hoping to be benefited by the water there. Mrs. Carrie Meeks of Sherman is visiting relatives here. Mrs. Gus Viser and children of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, are spending the summer here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thad Rhodes. Mrs. J.D. Garland of Dallas visited here last week. Clint Hopper was called to Sherman by the death of his brother-in-law, Walter Moran. Buster Wilson of Denison spent last week here with his grandmother, Mrs. Annie Wilson. Lois Meeks of Tulsa, Oklahoma, is visiting relatives here. Lee Binion of Texarkana spent Sunday here with his father, R.E.L. Binion. Mrs. Bertha Camerons and daughter of Sherman are spending the week here with relatives. Dee St. John and Rufus Scott were home from school at Commerce for the week-end. W.A. Smart of Sherman was a guest of Bill Dixon and family last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Holland and children of Kentuckytown spent Sunday here with relatives. Lewis Garland of Slaton arrived Sunday for a few days visit with relatives. F.M. Slaon and daughter, Miss Louise; Miss Aubrey Bishop, Charley Kaiser and family and Mr. and Mrs. Gilmore Webster of Whitewright spent Sunday at Tioga. Mrs. H.M. Binion and daughters, Misses Ina and Alpha, of Slaton are here for a ten days visit with relatives. The protracted meeting which has been in progress at the tabernacle, conducted by Rev. E.M. Borden of Dallas, came to a close Sunday night. A large crowd was present. Many Whitewright people attended the meeting throughout the week. Mr. Buchanan of Leonard led the song service, which was fine. Others from Leonard, Tom Bean and Van Alstyne also attended the services. Mr. and Mrs. Kurges Wood and Mrs. Ada Roberts of Sherman were here Sunday. W.G. Ramsey of Plano, who has been visiting his daughter, Mrs. F. Lovell, will leave the latter part of the week for Chickasaw, Oklahoma, and other cities further north. The young people of this community were organized into a B.Y.P.U. last Sunday evening at the Baptist Church. The membership is forty divided into two groups. Clint Hopper was chosen captain of No. 1 group, and Mrs. Earl Benson, No. 2. With the material here, and A1 union is expected to develop. The following officers were elected: F. Lovell, president; Jesse Cornell, vice-president; Miss Ruth Lovell, secretary-treasurer; Miss Thelma Ownby, assistant; Joe Ashinhurst; choir master; Arthur Russell, assistant; Miss Lois Chism, pianist; Miss Virginia Benson, assistant. The first program will be rendered by number one group, "The Hoppers," Sunday, July 18, at 7:30 p.m. The Pink Hill B.Y.P.U. will render a program here Sunday evening, July 11, at 7:30 o'clock.
