The Whitewright Sun
January 8, 1970 pg. 1 Whitewright Area Landmarks RESIDENTS USE OLD SCHOOL One of the true landmarks in the Whitewright area is the former Little Rock schoolhouse. Located on the "back roads" north of Pilot Grove, the school was last used in the late 1930s, according to estimates by Little Rock residents. Students then were transferred to Pilot Grove and Whitewright schools to complete their education. Residents of Little Rock have not let the building set idle since the school closed. Instead it is still used as a community hall. The Little Rock Town and Country Club hold its meetings in the hall during the spring, summer and early fall months, according to Mrs. Joe Reynolds, whose husband was a first grade student in the school when it closed. The Reynolds family is one of the pioneer families in the Little Rock area.
