i The Sherman Daily Democrat Friday, February 24, 1905 pg. 5 THE NEWS FROM HOWE Death of Two Old Settlers in That Section - Other Notes Howe, Tex., Feb. 22 - Death is abroad in our land and has claimed two of our most loved and respected citizens since we last wrote. The one Grandma Bush of near Farmington was called to rest from her labors here on last Saturday and was laid away by kind and loving hands at the Hall Cemetery on Sunday. The ground being covered with snow was but a fit emblem of her purity of character and those who knew her best realize that inded we have lost "a mother in Israel." The other Rev. E.H. Messick, who was known throughout this country as a valiant servant of the Lord, died yesterday and is to be buried this afternoon at Hall Cemetery by his Masonic brethren. Bro. Messick was one of our best men and will be greatly missed. Harrison Davis is reported on the sick list. The sunshine has at last succeeded in driving away the ice king and we trust that sping is now at our doors. Oat sowing will begin as soon as it is sufficiently dry for our farmers to get into their fields. Mrs. W.P. Watts of Madill, I.T. visited her brother, J.T. Ryle and family last week. Robert Ryle is able to be up and is apparently over his severe attack of appendicitis. Messrs. Jones and Pierce of Sherman and Rev. Bone of Prosper and many others from a distance are here today to attend the funeral of Rev. Messick.
