Howe's official flag was first flown on September 23, 1972 in the Centennial Parade and carried by Parade Grand Marshall Ray Houston.  Councilwoman Carrie Waller designed the official flag and centennial seal which was approved by the Howe City Council on July 2, 1972.  The materials used to construct the flag cost $5.24 and was built by Councilwoman Waller.

The flag theme is centered around Howe having the highest elevation between Red River and the Gulf of Mexico.  
  • Top stripe - red - represents the Red River
  • Bottom stripe - blue - represents the Gulf of Mexico
  • Vertical stripe - black - represents the Railroad
  • Background - white - represents Texas cotton fields
  • Center - gold diamond - represent City of Howe
